It’s the time of the year, the painting companies launch their color proposals for 2019. The 3 Jotun Colors of the Year 2019 are always long-awaited (see the 2018 Color Trends here) with a subtle yet enduring palette, tailor-made towards Northern style yet very global.

We might redefine anyhow soon all our geographic attributes one day. For how long can we still talk about Mediterranean Style? Nordic Style? French Style? Don’t we have so much fusions already in interior design? And why does it seem necessary to always classify styles?

Jotun color Chart for 2019 has just been published and it will bring us along a path of search and self-expression.
Now, that is a global movement for sure!

In fact, the Jotun 2019 Colors have been chosen to create a new color concept entitled LADY IDENTITY that wants to make easier for us to express ourselves through colors.

The home is the story of who we are. Told through the things we provide space for and the colors we surround ourselves with.

- Lisbeth Larsen, Global Color Manager, Jotun

The new 28 color are dedicated to modern urban lifestyles and represent three stories about different personalities and mindset. Through different color combinations, the creative studio Kråkvik & D’Orazio and photographer Line Klein illustrated the three views defined by Jotun.

Let’s see the company’s vision and  three color themes now:

1// CALM

A theme that represents the people who values meaning rather than quantity.

This color trend focuses on beautiful and simple elements that are able to create timeless rooms characterized by clarity and freedom. There is nothing is unnecessary here as the space aims to create a harmonic, resting environment where we can find comfort for the everyday hustle  The palette is composed by beautiful shades of peach and muffled pink used often in combination with more neutral – yet warm – tones. It’s a perfectly judged palette of subtle neutrals that will not go out of style and remain up-to-date for a long period. If you are not too much into trends in the sense of not wanting to adapt to new color inspirations very often, this might be a good choice.

2// REFINED

The perfect emplacement where the home owner treasures to be surrounded by exquisite pieces.

This color inspiration considers the home as our private gallery. Here, colors are used and combined to create a slightly more moody environment we enjoy, surrounded by special pieces that we appreciate in our everyday life. The sophisticated palette is composed of green and yellow shades, touches of lavender and soft neutrals. Vintage treasures sit alongside newer design pieces and artworks in

3// RAW

A conversation about the honest and true connection to earth.

A relaxing atmosphere able to calm us in the face of the challenging of the external world inspires this last color trend. A refined style that is able to brings us closer to nature thanks to more tactile textures and colors. I must say that some do look amazing making a space more surreal like the grey and the white-beige colors but some look very old school and not in a good way. Terracotta or peach? I think those colors are for those with exceptional taste and an even more exceptional experience.

I’ve really enjoyed reading this blog post, thank you for sharing! Nothing can beat raw, warm earthy colors with all the beautiful textures that follow. However, I am at that point in my life where I am learning to appreciate the simplicity and clarity of timeless pastel colors and nuances. Sparks of neutral colors bring warmth and coziness to any room creating an oasis of peace and calmness.
