This is why we’d like to share the potent style of Charlie Schuck’s work by for New York based furniture and product design studio Bower:
1// In a nutshell:
Charlie Schuck’s work has long fascinated us for the potent look of his campaigns that seem to embody just the perfect style of the moment. His recent photographs for studio Bower newly launched web are probably one of the best examples of his aesthetic.
2// What draw our attention the most:
The strongly designed set of this series of photos and the cutting-edge palette color are what got our attention.
Charlie Schuck’s images are minimal but with and intensely grand look built on selected textures and surface, like sumptuous curtains, perfectly brushed carpets and mirrored elements. The restricted color tones also work to increase these highly readable and yet dramatic pictures. The palette of pinks, light and teal blues and dark greens plays a central role underlying the sophistication of the whole set, particularly in their juxtaposition to the darkness walnut surfaces and marble marquetry.
The surprising presence of a beautiful peacock adds a touch of surrealism to the web and captures our full attention when we see it moving around the virtual space. The bird’s presence brings a unique and unexpected element to the series and appears as a perfect parallel to the Bower‘s work that “through a free, experimental process want to bring unique and unexpected objects into people’s lives”.
3// The bigger picture
His series can be considered as ‘trending’ thanks to several characteristics such as:
a. including models in a shot makes the set more alive, but instead of taken too much attention, they are placed as if they were part of the landscape not looking towards the viewer
b. the color palette is on point, dusty, romantic and including teal
c. elements are all round, we are still in the ‘circle area’
