We are excited to bring you, once more, 3 Color Trends 2024 by Dulux Australia, a forecast we have been covering since 2015.
Color is the perfect mechanism to delineate spaces and add layers of depth in a harmonious manner without introducing closures, and Dulux Australia shares beautiful examples of how to do this in several images below. They have worked again with the superb team of Bree Leech (art direction) and Lisa Cohen (photography).
This year’s color trends reflect an inner desire for positivity and spaces that nurture within our homes. The new trends feature warm colors with a yellow inference, pink-influenced clay hues and reddy browns, olive green and accents of pale blue and zesty yellow.
Designed to transform your home into a soothing retreat, the Solstice palette of rich and organic hues can cocoon us and help evoke feelings of strength and joy. Solstice is influenced by the pared-back Scandinavian design style with the added warmth of colors inspired by the Mediterranean and desert landscapes.
Warmth through color
A melting pot of Mediterranean, Scandinavian, and African influence, the Solstice palette serves as a reminder that as the days grow longer, there are better days ahead. The trend is rich with organic colors that wrap warmth around us to evoke feelings of security and strength.
These are the nine colors of the SOLSTICE palette:
NATURAL WHITE / LIGHT RICE HALF / HANDMADE LINEN HALF / POTTER’S PINK / JODHPURS / RIPE LEMON / TAN WAGON / LAMA / PURE BLUE / REDDY BROWN / EMPTY STAGE / OCEAN SURF
Solstice starts with inspiration from the pared-back Scandinavian design style, but adds to this a Mediterranean and desert influence – from the Australian outback to the African savannah, the palette brings together warm colors with cooler accents and details such as braiding and primitive sculptural forms.
There is always one palette reminiscent of a more traditional or heritage approach but with modern nuances. Travel, cultural differences, bohemian charm, and the art of craft influenced the Journey palette of lavish mid-tone colors for a maximalist and eclectic feel in our homes. Bohemian charm and eclectic allure are the core messages.
Embracing the significance of preserving traditions and treasuring heirlooms, Journey beckons you to weave together the past with the present.
Similar to the rich and diverse tapestry of our own lives, the Journey palette brings together rich mid-tone hues, with yellow greens, such asand , and blues like and , alongside rich reds and plum, including and for contrast.
These are the nine colors of the JOURNEY palette:
POLLINATE / ANTIQUE WHITE USA ® / LILAC LIGHT / HAY WAIN / BEIGE ARTEFACTS / EVENING BLUSH ÷ XENA ÷ CLOUDED SKY ÷ CARMEN / BEAN COUNTER / SWEDISH BLUE / BRUISED BURGUNDY
Journey is about the story of an interior – from bringing together global influences from our travels to reflecting on the history of our ancestry through objects and items handed down through time, the trend is maximalist in nature with an eclectic palette to reflect this.
Heavily influenced by the nostalgia of the postmodern era, with a particular emphasis on the ’70s, the Muse palette is a celebration of the free-spirited styles of the past. Deep mid-tone colors evoke sentiments of warmth, nostalgia, and self-expression. The character and intrigue of these colors are enhanced with dramatic décor in some of the images below.
The palette’s colorful array of hues creates a distinctly modern interior fused with nostalgic design references reminiscent of the ’60s to the ’80s, in addition to the textures and glamour from the ’70s. Whilst many of us lived through these design periods, the allure of the ’70s and ’80s is a whole new influence being embraced by younger generations.
These are the nine colors of the MUSE palette:
LEXICON ®QUARTER / POACHED / TUSCAN SUNSET / CANYON CLOUD / BRYOPHYTE / FANTAN / DECORATION BLUE / SURF GREEN / GUITAR / PASSIONATE BLUE / HIDDEN DEPTHS / FLUORESCENT FIRE
Muse is a trend that strikes the perfect balance between nostalgia and modernity, resulting in spaces that are timeless and simultaneously contemporary, with a strong ’70s influence and modern twists. Muse pays tribute to the design icons that have come before.
