Eclectic Trends | 4 Color Trends 2020 Dulux Australia- Indulge

Dulux Australia has recently revealed their take on 2020 colors under the, again, wonderful art direction of Bree Leech. This is probably the biggest Color Trend Forecast we share of a painting company.

The leitmotiv of next years’ Color Forecast is ESSENCE, which focuses on our collective search for those things that bring us happiness. The complexity of our everyday life, layered with digital streams of information, puts us on a constant high alert. As individuals, we need to go back to a spot where we can live a true, essential life.
The Dulux Australia Color Forecast 2020 takes us on a journey of personal discovery with diverse and contrasting tonal palettes that offer hints of escapism which can both calm and empower.

We begin to crave that circuit- breaker, the moment that interrupts the torrent and allows us to centre ourselves, breathe and reconnect in a meaningful way.”

1// GROUNDED

This color theme inspires us to move towards living a simple, uncomplicated life by adopting a less-is-more approach.

Grounded is all about living consciously, making smart choices that don’t compromise on the beauty, warmth, and texture that remains essential to creating our happy place.

For this, it is adamant to abandon yesterday’s clutter in favor of a more mindful approach that hero comfort, longevity, and craftsmanship.

Natural materials come into play, evoking emotion through the raw beauty of texture and tactility. It is on the perfect balance of textures and a tonal palette that we find the key to beautiful minimal interiors. Bring this element through in your furniture using materials such as rattan and styling textiles.

Raw materials are offset with innovative finishes that feel high-tech but still invite the human touch. The past remains ever-present with the addition of cherished vintage items, time-worn textiles and the heart-tugging familiarity of a home-cooked meal.

Dulux suggests to

  • personalize your interiors with tactile finishes and textured forms that please the eye
  • punctuate your neutral schemes with an accent color that features in your decor

Color itself  is an important driver in your home but you can add personality too by including a few handcrafted pieces and items that have meaning to you.

2// COMEBACK

Comeback speaks to this innately creative desire, inspiring us to blend contemporary design hints with vintage pieces to create an eclectic look.

This trend embodies a dialogue between the reassurance created by something familiar and the call to break out and express our true selves.

Comeback blends eclectic style with vintage charm to create a rich and layered aesthetic that feels expressive in its minimalism, yet reassuringly familiar. Living with tonal shades of blue helps to create a peaceful and calm space.

An unusual mix of decor can be cleverly united through a common color palette, like the selection of blues and greens combined with fresh white and accents of purple, red and orange.

Vibrant, clean colors like the striking Dulux Master Blue can create a key highlight and, in open spaces, help to divide the room into functional zones. At the same time, it weaves sentimental throwbacks with flashes of 80s-inspired fun.

3// CULTIVATE

The need we feel to disconnect from the digital world urges us to reconnect with the elements of nature, like the flourishing earth, clean air, natural light. Cultivate’s nature-inspired palette combats the crush of city living with its soothing calmness. Home is no longer a place to rest and recover, it’s somewhere to rejuvenate and inspire.
