BYW Studio with Holly Becker and Steffi Luxat

This is going to be a long post! What a weekend! Holly from Decor8, Steffi from OhhhMhhh and myself were working and having fun during 2 days in Hannover, Holly’s actual home town in Germany. The retreat started on Friday already with a meet and greet while I was still coming back from Italy, and on Saturday morning things went serious when16 bloggers were invading her studio and home. Let me first say that Holly has an amazing home! It exceeds any expectation, just her studio gives enough material to write a whole book. Heigh ceilings, herringbone flooring, generous space, lots of light and an amazing taste for crafting and decorating. These goody bags (sponsored from alphabet bags, rice and pistache mustache) were waiting for us:

But many students brought as well little gift such as home made cookies, handcrafted tea boxes or lovely magnets. You can see on Holly’s Instagram stream much more about the content.

Steffi gave us to start with a very detailed 10 tips analysis of how to treat your blog as if you were a real editor and consider different aspects of how to make a magazine/blog successful. Very interesting! Lots of aspects you think you already know but you don’t follow, so let’s reframe the strategy again (at least in my case).

After lunch we had some time for some shopping/shooting experience in Hannover at some of Holly’s favorite places, a lovely coffee break at Glücksmoment in a private circle with xmas tree cuppies specially made for us. And what about the twitter cake pops? Have a look for more at ninerbakes Instagram stream!

We still had than some time to head to the Weihnachtsmarkt and get some mulled wine. Crowded but very beautiful this year. Afterwards dinner and time to sleep. Next day the most interesting part for me was when Holly and Steffi were giving feedback on our blogs. I was very much looking forward to that since I still want to fine tuning with the new design and extra tips were very much appreciated! Will do so in the upcoming days. It was very interesting to get feedbacks on all the other blogs, common questions were raised and so at the end we had a great consulting moment. Priceless!

You should have seen the lunch the guys from Wahre Gaumen Freunde prepared for us! Food bloggers would probably have faded! Very visual, amazing tasty and good guys! Loved them. They will come up next year with a deli line, I am looking forward to that! Please check for much more pics here!

In the afternoon we learned from Steffi and Holly’s husband Thorsten photography tips and styled our own little vignette at Holly’s studio. But that is a different post… And to finish up with a group picture of all the lovely ladies who attended.

Stay tuned for more pictures this week from Holly’s gorgeous studio!

Du bist zum Schiessen, Anette. Holly has a lecture with Steffi in Köln at IMM and we are going. M&O will be substituted this year for Köln for me, have never been to that trade fair and know Paris quite well. Don’t have final dates but Holly will be there with Steffi, January, 14th.
