Combining living and working in a Brooklyn apartment

I came across this article when browsing for Beni Ourain rugs at Pinterest and even it is not brand new, I thought it was worth sharing it. Lonny editor-in-chief Michelle Adams assessed her friend and stylist Bryan Sanders who recently founded a fashion consulting business at her Brooklyn apartment and was in need of a space-saving make over for her and her boyfriend.

The three rooms are now cohesive in style and balances with masculine and feminine design elements and a black and white colour palette.

Las tres habitaciones tienen ahora un estilo más coherente con elementos tanto masculinos y femeninos y una paleta de colores de blanco y negro.

The middle room is used  for working space dividing storage and work space with a round black table which creates a visual link between the living and the bedroom. I love this idea since the table serves as a dining table as well if needed.

La habitación central se utiliza como despacho ahora con espacios separados para el trabajo y documentación. La mesa redonda negra hace de conexión visual entre el salón y el dormitorio. Me gusta mucho esta idea, además sirve de mesa para comer/cenar si es necesario.

  1. Beautiful transformation! I love the round table in the office, and the idea of the versatility of nightstands (especially with drawers) is excellent. The bedroom seems a little neglected, however…

  2. I love the bedroom. Simple, but beautiful.
What a transformation. I had a look at the before photos.
    Love it! hx

  3. Neglected or kept bright and uncluttered? Personally I really like how “empty” it looks. It’s a nice contrast to the more decorated spaces :)

  4. It reminds me of the typical Brussels’s apartments ” trois pièces en enfillade” meaning series of three linked rooms. You never know how to use the middle room efficiently because it’s a space with no direct lights and no view to outside….it’s more like a “passing through” room. But in your example the middle room became like an extension to the living room and I like very much the round table which create a visual link between the two other rooms as you have said. Very clever!

Hope you are having fun too with Blog Boss!

  5. It truly is quite interesting how they mixed the obvious masculine and feminine together.. I just love the mantle and had to pin it! I’m considering creating an office so on the hunt for tips at the moment… Hope you had a great time in Qatar. M x
