IMM Cologne 13: Dear Disaster by Jenny Ekdahl

You know when you have that much material coming back from a trade show such as the IMM Cologne, you don’t even know where to start with? So, I thought I would give you a little teaser of what was one of my favorite pieces I spotted yesterday meanwhile I am preparing lots of more information for you. And be prepared , it will be kind of mono topic the upcoming days…

Swedish designer Jenny Ekdahl presented Dear Disaster as a graduation project at the show at the Interior Innovation Awards and I immediately fell in love with that cabinet when I found out I could directly interact in the design by moving what seems water drops. Her starting point was a natural disaster which at the same time offers destruction and the opportunity for new life or a reminder of how life once begun. It is a one-off project made by more than 400 pieces. You can see more of her work here. And I will publish soon more works of the other awarded young designers.

How about some extra inspiration?

  1. What a special piece of furniture, a very good pick as a teaser! I won’t mind your being mono-thematic, I’m sure you found some little treasures. And I’m glad that you’ll feature some more young designers. There’s so much talent out there and the big players are often less interesting, I think.

  2. A great start Gudy, that cabinet is amazing how it’s interactive, such a great idea. I like the colour tones also. Looking forward to more please! M x

Online Courses - English

You’ll find now a very complete starter program, which comes subtitled in eight languages. You will learn:

  • why haptic moodboarding becomes more relevant and effective in 2022
  • how to create a balanced board that not only looks good but works as a memorable communication tool
  • that I do not start a mood board with the creative hands-on process but with a thinking process and a formula
  • how I used that specific formula in a business project, which I share with you

Ebook Color Trends 2022

The download of the Jotun Ebook and color palettes was a huge hit last year, so we thought to put it again together for our readers to have all 28 hues in one place and be able to work with it at all times.
