If you live in Barcelona and love Interior Design, you can’t help but be familiar with Lázaro Rosa-Violan‘s work. Born in Tangier of Catalan parents and grandparents, he took sat in at classes in the Academy of Fine Arts at the age of eight. Painter by training, traveller by conviction and interior designer by instinct, he says he finds inspiration everywhere. Lázaro’s work is to be found in the latest hotels, restaurants and shop that appear listed as the ‘must go and see’ spots in Barcelona. I was invited the past week to his studio Contemporain to get a first glimpse on his new collection.
The Spanish decorative lighting brand Metalarte has begun an exclusive collaboration with this uber talented interior designer. As a result, they have launched a new category in its catalogue under the name of Atelier. These are unique items that reflect the personality of their author, produced in small series, as in haute couture fashion. The first two collections are called Eva and Frank.
My favorite is definitely Eva, I fell for the table lamp with the white foot (image n#6). I just love the marble pear and the drawings they had all over the table.
Visiting the studio in itself is a real treat (and getting to know Gosco, his trusty four-legged friend). Lázaro works with a team of 80 creatives in what used to be his own apartment, practically bursting at the seams (but pure inspiration!). About six month ago, he build a conservatory on his patio and works now in this dreamy space.
I wouldn’t mind at all being able to count on this wonderful spot for a trend conference and having Lázaro saying a few words, too. Why not? G, x
