After having written the article about colour trends spotted at the IMM Cologne a couple of weeks ago, I had several comments regarding materials and wanted to post about what I believe we will still see at the up-coming trade shows this year. These are in my opinion the material trends of 2013.
Concrete is an emerging trend not being used any longer as construction material but introduced into our day to day life being a decorative or consumer product.
1. Kitchen from AtCasa 2. Concrete shaving kit from Lovisa Wattmann for Iris Hantwerk. 3. Petali Grigio Tiles 4. Concrete Lavazza by Schmuel Linkski 5. Kami Pots by Ett la Benn 6. Jump lamp by Claude Saos
Copper strikes back! The material is just taking over more and more the accessory market. No chrome any more, still some golden finishings, brass is coming too, but yes, for now copper is king.

I have visited in September 2012 DkHome at the Maison&Objet show in Paris and had a very nice interview with one of their major marble providers. He told me that slab work has become already so popular that clients are now looking for something more personal. I don’t stop seeing side table tables on the shows. Very beautiful indeed! Juxtaposing marble with other materials and even bold colours has become one of the design features to give a fresh appeal.

Great Gudy
Thanks for sharing such a great info with beautiful images, styling and practical info! Tijen
Hi Tijen, oh, great, thanks a lot! I really appreciate!
You are so right! Thank you. These were also the new early trends shown at Maison & Objet in Paris last week. I saw also very interesting furniture combining stone and wood (eg. at Gervasoni)
I know, Gervasoni is so good, always giving the best trend hints. Love the collaboration they have with Paolo Navone.
Hi Gudy, I absolutely love concrete and that it is being revived into the use of domestic products. It has such a tactile feel to it. Thanks for sharing the trends. It’s always good to note. Looking forward to meeting you in Stockholm. xD
this is amazing! I love it! Thank you for sharing this.
