On our last day in LA we went with the BlogTour gang to a Korean spa in the afternoon relaxing, all generously sponsored by Mr. Steam whose innovative and healthy steam showers we had the chance to visit in the morning. I didn’t even know that existed. Yes, I used to go to a steam bath during my fitness years. It felt wonderful and I did not get only single cold in the whole year. But that was like 5 years ago!
Martha Orellana, the companies’ soul told us there are more than 40 benefits for steam bathing. Steam cleanses and nourishes the skin, leaving it with a healthy glow. It hydrates dry skin. And, hallelujah, it can also aid in the fight against cellulite while boosting your metabolism. We talk about a natural detox that removes harmful impurities from your body. It can also enhance your breathing, leaving you with an improved sense of tranquility, promoting restful sleep and wellness. And the list goes on.
So, you know what I did when working in Shanghai some days ago? I learned last year when in Brazil that getting up one hour earlier than usual and spend some time on the street, having a coffee and watching Sao Paolo’s vibes come to life, made me feel so much better. I had stolen some me-time and started much happier the day. Less sleep, yes, but so worth it! Ever since, I do that in all my business travels.
In Shanghai I walked every single morning quite early to a nearby park, observing Chinese people at their morning ritual with all sorts of Tai Chi exercises, some slightly changed to fancy disco music moves, other focussed on breathing exercises which only by watching made me feel all relaxed. I went then back to the hotel, grabbed a coffee and off I was to give my ‘how to decorate’ trainings in the most luxurious malls in town. Quite a contrast.
After a lavish business dinner, back to the hotel I went down to the spa area and started my steam bathing ritual. Since I am not trained right now, I couldn’t stay too long but is was so relaxing after a long day and made me sleep the entire week besides the initial jet lag. You know, I had only a 4 days break between LA and heading to Shanghai, and I truly believe this little rediscovered daily steam retreat helped me a lot to keep up with great energy during my stay in China.
So, yes Mr. Steam, I plan to move soon, and I will think about getting a steam shower in my new bathroom once learned of the ease of home installation and very affordable cost factors! I might even think about the aromatherapy feature. Isn’t it just one of those pleasures that make your life so much better? And slower?!
You see this pic in the center? That one comes from Mr. Steams media library, if I had to create a mood board around, it would look like this:

Very nice moodboard, it looks so peaceful and quiet. I really like the soft colors and dreamy blurring…Unfortunately I have no steam bath aromatherapy-experiences but would love to try it out!
If you have the opportunity, try a steam bath in one of the fitness clubs in town. Now, the aromatherapy would be new for me too!
