My Trend Conference at the IMM Cologne 2016

Posted By Gudy Herder / January 5, 2016 / 34 Comments

I don’t think I could possibly kick-off the new year any better!

A couple of years ago, I decided that besides working with corporate clients on trends consulting, I wanted to give conferences on a larger scale on international trade shows, too.

There are two major trade shows in furniture & interior design being no.1 the Salone del Mobile and there is really anything that can beat this event. After that, talking volume and importance, comes straight the IMM in Cologne, Germany.

The fair has a supporting programme “The Stage” which will be focusing on current trend developments in the furnishing and interior design sector with informative lectures and interesting panel discussions on design-related themes, featuring renowned speakers and international participants.

Here go some wonderful news: I will give a trend conference on 3 Interior Design Trends for S/S17 with a further focus on how to adapt these trends at The Stage.

3 INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS SS17-IMM COLOGNE 2016-GUDY HERDER

And I’d like to see you and invite you!

I am giving away 10 tickets (entrance to the trade show) to come and hear me speak on January, 19 – 4.15pm!

All you have to do, is leaving a comment below AND sign up here. I’ll announce the winners on January, 09 on this same post at 8pm (GMT+1) and I really hope to see you in Cologne! Feliz Año Nuevo. G, x

UPDATE:  I have written a personal email to all winners who have opted for a ticket of the upcoming Trend Lecture at the IMM16. There is personal code you need to use to download your entrance card. Please check your spam folder just in case! Thank you and CONGRATS!

Thank you!! Actually we are filming the trend talk but I still haven’t decided if material goes online afterwards. It’s a very dark stage, all black and we are not sure about the lighting and filming quality afterwards. Let’s see:)

Oh how fabulous, congratulations Gudy! Of course I would love to come and hear you talk. Fingers crossed… The trade show seems interesting, I’ve never been there before. And apparently Köln is closer to Amsterdam for us, who knew! ;)

Yvonne, it’s a huge trade show and bas become very relevant the last years. You can’t keep up with all but I suggest you rather concentrate on the more modern design pavilions. It could easily take you 3 days to see everything. Don’t miss Das Haus, curated very year by a different designer. And fingers crossed for your ticket:) x

Thanks Gudy! 3 days, really? You’re right, you can never keep up with everything. I saw some interesting things on their website already and I’m always curious to see new and upcoming designers. Das Haus seems interesting too!
By the way I meant ‘closer THAN Amsterdam’ in my first comment, oh dear ;) x

Gudy, I didn’t make it to IMM although I had planned to. But I was stuck at home with a mean flu :-(
What are the trends you talked about at your speech and which trends were the most interesting in Cologne? The bloggers have mixed opinions. Some say there are loads of pastels, others mention a lot of dark tones or black furniture… I´d love to hear your thoughts!

keep up your work, I like your more grown up approach to the design world!

Hi Leila, I will upload my speech soon, sign up for the newsletter to be able to get it. It’s exclusive for subscribers.
Regarding colors, pastels are a keeper, nothing new about it, we had them already for the past 3 years, there is definitely a lot of black, even darker woods such as mango and above all, walnut. As a novelty, fashion comes back with its influences offering dark oranges, cognac and rusty shades, all related to the 70ies.
But there weren’t any major changes apart from that. No risk at all this year:)
