My dear friend and contributor Anastasia asked me yesterday was my guess for the Pantone color of the year was and I said it might be kale. My second option was a yellow tone. Funny to see that Greenery is just in between.
According to the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute
Further on, the brand describes the new color as a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world.
A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.
Instagram users will be very happy with so much greenery images being posted. This time the color is already here and widely accepted, so we don’t need to get used to it too much as it happened with a few other selections the years before (remember Radiant Orchid?). I believe it will be a huge commercial success!

Very fresh colour!! Perfect for modern and young interiors! More difficult to combine with classic or luxury style. Maybe adding it with some decor objects or plants ;)!! Thank you for the suggestion !

Hi Ilaria, I believe of you go for a black, greenery and gold pairing, a more luxurious and classic style should be fine. I even see it with white and grey. Another option is probably combining greenery with a kale and navy blue. A deep purple will fit nicely, too. Let’s see how everybody applies the new shade in 2017:)
