This is why we want you to introduce to the sophisticated furniture series by Portuguese brand Dooq:
1//In a nutshell:
Dooq has as main focus to celebrate the luxury of living. “Playing games” is their recent collection and includes a small yet very sophisitctated coffee table and a side one. Both elements are made out of a balanced game of marbles and brass to create a rich and sensual spatial dialogue.
2//What draw our attention the most:
Crossing the boundaries between art and design, Dooq has created furniture far from the more classic figurative forms. In this way, the user can look at the pieces from different angles as ther eis no pre-determined viewpoint.
The game between proportions and colors created by the use of the essentials shapes and noble materials grants a sophisticated appearance to the design.
Though quite abstract in forms, the pieces have a strong sensual appearance that fascinates us. “We seek to find balance in things that are contrasting, creating pieces where feminine meets masculine, small meets large, soft meets solid and past meets the present allowing the new to blossom”, says Dooq.
The several pieces that compose the side and coffee tables of the “Playing games” series can be chosen among 6 different qualities of marbles – Guatemala Green, Estremoz White, Estremoz Rose, Nero Marquita, Emperador and Carrara-that can be combined by either a polished or satin metal detail, allowing the user to play with various combination to better adapt to their aesthetic needs and desires.
Other than ‘Playing games’, we were very much drawn to ‘Traje de Luces’, a collection inspired by the rich traditions found in the south of Spain.
3//The bigger picture
As Dooq’s “Playing games” series shows, personalization is a key factor within today’s design and this is something that include both low cost and high-end, luxury pieces. At the same way, there is a growing attention to the celebration of senses through materials and textures as we have mentioned several times before. If you want to know more, follow the link here.
