Travel treasures: Mecox Gardens or the Californian Style

On the first day of the BlogTour LA, we visited in the design district several really cool shops. Mecox Gardens was one of the stops where tacos and Margaritas were waiting for us at a most carefully curated shop. For me it represented what I thought could be the Californian style: sun bathed, laid back, eclectic, non conformist and very creative.

The owner sources all over the globe and many pieces are vintage and one of a kind.

You’ll find currently merchandised natural tones and materials combined with white and blue textiles and accessories.

I love taking books with me from all over the world but it has just been impossible this time, I already had kind of a weight issue when flying in but took good note of some book titles. This Capri book looks really tempting.

This gorgeous bead lamp was probably one of the most instagrammed pics during the trip.

Mecox Gardens has opened in 2003 in Los Angeles and they run today 8 shops in different states, all individually styled due to local demand and flavor.

We saw several other cool spots these days; I am trying to organize my many images and will still write about our visit to Kelly Wearstler‘s offices, Heath ceramics and much more. Have a wonderful week, I am on my way home now:-) Gudy x

How about some extra inspiration?

    1. Yes, I know, I really would have loved taking it home with me. But I don’t have the right height in my place to give it enough space. Apart from not knowing how to transport it…xx

  2. GOSH I love this place Gudy, when can I move in ;-) Looks like you guys had an awesome trip to LA with Modenus – what a treat. Glad you’re back – happy Monday love,

    1. Hi, Anya, isn’t it just gorgeous? The tour has been a lovely experience, I just wished I could have taken a ‘container’ with me and it’s not about crazy impulsive shopping but just finding very special pieces over there.

    1. Thank you, Dave! It’s been my very first trip to LA and hopefully not the last. You guys live in a pretty cool place, since I travel a lot, I guess I can really tell:-)

  4. I was so pleased that Christian and Jill took us to Mecox Gardens because there was plenty to inspire in that store! The beach-side feel of their product assortment offered plenty of textural pieces and, like you say, that chandelier was a total knockout piece! Fab post x
