A Container Transformed Into A Miniliving: Casa Container

Current times are embedded in paradoxes, so no surprises that we face the same dilemmas when it comes to our dwellings. How to have more space with less square meters? How to make it homie while clearing things out? Can space have minimalist items yet be functional? Can we coexist with nature while having a modern house?

Brazilian architect Marília Pellegrini seems to have found solution in her Casa Container: when the void is filling. No wonder why mini-livings are so fascinating, they are the 3D answers to the above dilemmas.

Marília Pellegrini studied architecture and Urbanism at the Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) and she does not work with containers. Usually, containers transformed into mini-living don’t lose their industrial pass in the change of purpose. The latter represented the real challenge for Marialia Pellegrini: giving a new soul to one of these boxes.

The results are mesmerizing: a white void, filled with space, welcoming, and relaxing to the eye.

First of all, the architect felt the need to donate a new feeling to the container. So, she painted it all white with a water and stain-resistant product to create a smooth feeling and a continuity between in and out. The idea of using white was to create a sensation of emptiness. Yet the container feels full and probably is because of the way natural and artificial light fills out the spaces.

Pellegrini made all the furniture, which perfectly wedged in the living area, bedroom, and bathroom. The colors are relaxing and blend in with their surroundings.  They are there, but their presence is discreet.
Last but not least, this container is thought to be immersed in a natural environment, as one lateral side is entirely open. Tho roof is compatible with solar panels and captures rainwater use for the garden.

This is what happens when the void is filling: Casa Container is more than clever use of space, material, and furniture. It’s an answer to contemporary needs of calm, decluttering, external cleanness to be able to focus on ourselves; topics widely and deeply discussed in our Trend Report Ceremony.
