I just wanted to give you a small behind-the-scenes peek on the Winter Trend Think Tank 2018 we celebrated 10 days ago. I had invited 6 experts who were presenting ideas and mood boards of creative disciplines such as food, interior design, technology, innovation, fashion, textiles, and sustainably luxury.
During the day we would put individual ideas together to see if One Big Idea could serve as a common driver. The idea was of having a computer-free day (no ppt presentations!), with a brief on working with our hands as much as possible as you can witness on the images below.
We all spend far too much time behind our screens, right? The Trend Think Tank was all about touching materials, organising images and picking color charts.

Though we worked at least on 25 different directions, when bringing keywords together and looking for similarities, we realised that anything evolving around the human, our concerns and longings, really stood out. Yes, technology, VR, AI and Smart Home can not be overlooked, but at the end, we saw a clear focus on needs that make us feel good in all areas we touched on. This comes as no surprise, the more innovation we face in our lives technology involved, the more we crave a more human centred approach. In consequence, mindfulness, spirituality and well-being are on the rise in 2018 and will go over into 2019/20.
These were a few topics we discussed during the Think Tank
-
How women movements are affecting design bringing a new sensual twist to materials and shapes
-
How a much needed ‘going with the flow’ can be translated into fashion
-
Is food a driver for emotions?
-
How to create flexible designs in today’s Nomad Lifestyle?
-
What comes after Slow Living and Conscious Living?
-
How does sustainable travel look like in a luxurious environment?
-
What exactly means border-less and how does this it affect consumer behaviour and purchase decisions?
