David Thulstrup’s Limited Furniture Collection Is Made Of Eelgrass

Limited furniture edition made by eelgrass

We love seeing the innovative use of materials coming from natural environments. Studio David Thulstrup unveiled a limited edition furniture collection of four pieces made of eelgrass Acoustic Mats by Søuld. These mats are made of eelgrass and integrated into a collection, with steel and glass being other core materials.

The Acoustic Mats are produced locally in Denmark and collected sustainably by local farmers. They are a natural, non-toxic, and CO₂-binding material. Søuld’s acoustics enhance the sensory experience of interior wall and ceiling cladding while providing exceptional acoustic performance, health, and well-being benefits, reducing the environmental impacts of construction

David Thulstrup’s collection explores eelgrass in a new surrounding on a low table, high table, podium, and room divider.

“Working with eelgrass feels rewarding not only because of its truly unique characteristics, but also the fact that it’s natural, sustainable, and revolutionary. I especially love the surface of the eelgrass, its warm hue, and the smell of salt.”
