Yoohome embraces the idea of Living Morphologies evoking the sense of architecture as a growing, breathing organism. It merges futuristic design with fluid, biomorphic gentleness. Following Taras Yoom‘s work, we knew it would just be a question of time he came up with architecture as a daydream made tangible.
The Ukrainian artist works with poetic provocation; Yoohome feels less built than grown. Still a conceptual project slated for future construction in 2027, he imagines what living could look like when colorful creativity and biology merge into one organic vision.
ART UNIVERSE
Emerging from Yoom’s ongoing “Yoomoota” art universe, the project translates his surreal, living sculptures into inhabitable architecture. Its soft, biomorphic contours mimic nature’s logic – fluid, curved, instinctive – suggesting a home that moves with emotion rather than mechanical precision.
Each house features a unique plant species from a specific Yoomoota planet, creating a living connection. Not only the exterior but the interior too—walls, ceiling layers, light, furniture, railings—everything here comes from that universe.
MATERIALITY
While its form feels otherworldly, Yoohome’s imagined structure is grounded in innovative, functional materiality. The concept envisions a double-frame system that combines strength, insulation, and lightness:
-
Inner Frame: a robust skeleton of rectangular steel pipes forming the load-bearing structure for columns, beams, and slabs.
-
Outer Frame: a secondary layer that carries façade elements and formwork, defining Yoohome’s signature undulating silhouette.
-
Infill Material: the space between frames is filled with lightweight polystyrene concrete, merging structural integrity with thermal comfort.
-
Surface Treatments: envisioned finishes of glass and composite materials lend transparency and organic gloss, mirroring the fluidity of Yoom’s sculptures.
Together, these materials express a seamless fusion of industrial precision and organic softness — the building as both machine and organism. The combination of steel and foam concrete allows for flexibility in shape and texture, enabling the home’s whimsical, life-like curves.
DATE & LOCATION
Currently, Yoohome exists as a design concept, honored with multiple awards including Gold Winner 2024 in the Residential House Design (Concept) category by the Architecture & Design Collection Awards. According to design reports, construction is projected to begin in 2027, marking the transition from digital vision to physical reality. It belongs to what Yoom calls Yoomoota Village, a planned large-scale architectural/art complex in Thailand.
